After 5 Years of Detransition, I Testified for the First Time
The Case for Taking It Slow and Knowing When to Leap
The trans cult was out in full effect at the State Capitol in Des Moines, Iowa. Dozens of angry college-aged protestors flooded the capitol halls, stomping, screaming, and chanting with histrionic signs with messages like “Stop Trans Genocide,” “Transphobia is Fugly,” and even a sign just reading, “Help.”
Well, I was there to help, just not in the way these angsty queer believers wanted. Flying in from Milwaukee, WI on short notice, I agreed to share my story of detransitioning and medical harm for the ‘Sex Matters’ bill in Iowa. The bill codifies sex-based language into law instead of gender ideological language. This would protect same-sex spaces, and promote acceptance of biological reality in domains like education, healthcare, and civic life.

This marked my first time testifying in a court setting, although I have spoken in interviews and at events many times. When previously offered the opportunity to testify, I declined, as traveling to testify is unpaid, requiring time off work, lost wages, and great psychological pressure. It didn’t seem worth it for me to put myself out for no personal benefit, and it would have taken away from my “full time healing” job.
